The Transfer Market is Closed...

I will try to be as humble as a "lamb" ... maybe that's not my style.. but I think predictions regarding English Premier League (EPL) are just that, PREDICTIONS.

I like the analytic s of football, the diverse views of what teams bring to the table and their potential to achieve domestic and European trophies.  To make a judgement before the market has closed for transfers has always been a rough job.  However knowing the ability of each clubs potential to spend and what they can attract as a club can never be discounted.  With the EPL all these factors are paramount in each analysts making a prediction, but these are always overshadowed by who won it last.  This is a dominant factor only because of what Sir Alex has done with Manchester United.  I need not say more as Sir Alex has proven without a doubt  he is a step above the rest.  Having said all that it should be clear that defending an EPL title is no easy feat.

Lets Have some predictions:
Looking at the teams and the games played thus far it would be ridiculous not to have Manchester City in the title run.  They were my favorites to defend their title (an analysts as well) last season and look how that turned out for the analysts.  However taken into context they were under FFP restrictions and thus only made a small splash.   Chelsea made big name signings however and at the end of the day compete at a very high level despite an aging back-line to win the title.  During these post "Alex" seasons Manchester United has been in what a call a transnational period in which they are trying to reestablish themselves as title contenders.  There is no question the money is present, however the philosophy is absent.  The club was never one that went out and only bought explosive talent, they were a club that fostered belief in home grown talent with a dash of superstar now and again which resulted in titles, cups in short a treasure chest desired by all upstarts (Chelsea & City).  Considering the spending done has dictated who will win in this post "Alex" period I will go with my club Manchester City.  The second inline might be United if something clicks and third and fourth are up for grabs.  My feeling on predictions are that given the situation of EPL and the ruggedness of a season anything can happen.  I only know that Manchester City has the opportunity to continue creating history  and try to attain the level of their neighbors trophy case.  It has to start now.

I need not say anything more as there is another opportunity for squad improvement in the January transfer window.  At that time nothing will change for me where predictions are concerned, only that Arsenal might be retaining second place over united at that time.
